BECKLEY CONCERT ASSOCIATION TO PRESENT ONYX ENSEMBLE MAY 21 AT HEART OF GOD MINISTRIES

The Beckley Concert Association will welcome Onyx Ensemble at Heart of God Ministries on Thursday, May 21, at 7 p.m.

These professional string and woodwind players from Richmond, Va., perform classical music as well as covers of contemporary and sacred favorites.

The concert is included with a 2025-26 Beckley Concert Association membership, or tickets may be purchased by non-members online at beckleyconcerts.com or at the door for $20.

Prior to the Thursday evening performance, members of Onyx Ensemble will conduct an educational outreach program at Beckley-Stratton Middle School, sharing information about their musical backgrounds and instruments, which include the harp, flute, violin, viola and piano.

”This educational outreach is part of Beckley Concert Association’s ongoing commitment to support music education in our schools and community,” BCA President George Shriver said. “We are excited to welcome these talented musicians to Beckley, and we look forward to hearing them perform in the Heart of God Ministries sanctuary. It’s going to be a great show.”

Heart of God Ministries is located at 1703 South Kanawha St., Beckley.

This engagement of Onyx Ensemble is made possible in part through the Special Presenter Initiatives program of Mid Atlantic Arts with support from the National Endowment for the Arts and West Virginia Division of Culture and History.

Children 18 and under and accompanied by a paying adult are welcome free of charge to the May 21 performance. College students with IDs are also welcome to attend for free.

Plans are underway for Beckley Concert Association’s 2026-2027 performance season, which will begin in September with a jazz duo, followed by a tribute to the Dave Matthews Band, classical strings, a barbershop quartet, Celtic Angels, and a Motown tribute dance party — all included with a season membership fee of $55 for adults and $50 for seniors over age 60.
