Beckley, WV-A Beckley woman has been invited to attend the February 12 legislative session at the West Virginia Capitol. Mary West, a longtime community advocate, plans to raise concerns about rising property taxes, veteran support, and the financial strain many families are facing across southern West Virginia.
West says she hopes to bring local students with her to give them a firsthand look at how state government works. Her invitation comes as lawmakers continue debating tax policy, education funding, and several bills affecting veterans’ services.
Community leaders say her participation highlights the importance of everyday citizens engaging directly with lawmakers during the 60‑day session.
