BECKLEY, W.Va. — Best Ambulance Service has officially ended operations after serving southern West Virginia for more than three decades.
The Beckley-based ambulance service ceased operations on August 28, bringing 33 years of service to an end.
In a public statement announcing the closure, Best Ambulance thanked the patients, families, healthcare providers and community partners who supported the company throughout its years of operation.
Company leaders did not provide a reason for the decision to close.
The announcement comes after a period of public attention surrounding the ambulance service. Earlier this year, Best Ambulance was involved in discussions surrounding Baylea’s Law, legislation addressing emergency medical transportation and patient care.
There also has been public confusion regarding a Wyoming County indictment and whether it involved Best Ambulance. No connection between that matter and the company’s decision to close has been announced.
As operations come to an end, Best Ambulance says it remains grateful to the communities, patients and healthcare partners it served during its 33 years in business.
