GRANVILLE, W.Va. — Authorities are investigating after a body was recovered from the Monongahela River late Saturday morning in Granville.
The Monongalia County Sheriff’s Office said deputies were dispatched around 11:06 a.m. after receiving reports of a body in the water. Emergency crews located the individual roughly 200 to 300 yards north of the Granville boat ramp and recovered the body shortly afterward.
The sheriff’s office is leading the investigation. Agencies assisting at the scene included the Granville Police Department, West Virginia State Police, Monongalia County EMS and the Granville Fire Department.
Officials have not released the person’s identity or the cause of death. The investigation remains active, and authorities say additional information will be released once it is verified.
