Bridge Day Specialty License Plate Campaign Launches in West Virginia

A new effort is underway to bring an official Bridge Day specialty license plate to drivers across West Virginia. The Fayette County Community Foundation has partnered with the West Virginia DMV to introduce the plate, but the project can only move forward once at least 100 paid applications are received by August 3, 2026.
Organizers say the plate would celebrate one of the state’s most iconic annual events while giving residents a unique way to show their support. Bridge Day, held each October on the New River Gorge Bridge, draws thousands of visitors and is recognized as one of West Virginia’s signature tourism attractions.
The Foundation is encouraging residents statewide to help spread the word and submit applications early to ensure the plate becomes a reality.
