FAYETTEVILLE, W.Va. — January 13, 2026 — Bud’s Recycling Co‑op has been named the 2025 Social Enterprise of the Year by the West Virginia Hive, recognizing the young organization’s rapid growth and community impact in Fayette County. The co‑op will celebrate the honor by hosting a free Winter Gathering from 7 to 10 p.m. on January 17 at the Three Gables Club in Hilltop.
Founded in early 2025 by Daniel Love, Erin Collins and Chris Sefkin, Bud’s Recycling Co‑op offers residents in Fayetteville, Oak Hill and surrounding communities a convenient way to recycle unsorted materials not accepted by local waste haulers. Weekly pickups for households, businesses and schools have helped divert thousands of pounds of recyclable materials from landfills in the co‑op’s first year.
The WV Hive, the entrepreneurial arm of the New River Gorge Regional Development Authority, has provided ongoing business advising to the co‑op since its launch. Regional business advisor Devon Fitzgerald presented the award, noting that the co‑op is “reshaping what sustainability looks like in Fayette County” and praised its community‑driven curbside recycling model.
Co‑founders plan to expand services to include glass recycling and composting as part of their long‑term environmental stewardship goals.
To celebrate the award and engage the community, the co‑op’s January 17 Winter Gathering will feature a brief member meeting, live music from Mill Creek Cronies, a chili bar, and a silent auction supporting local recycling efforts. The event is free, but registration is required through Eventbrite.
