Capito Hosts Drug Policy Roundtable with ONDCP Director in Charleston

CHARLESTON, W.Va. (AP) — U.S. Senator Shelley Moore Capito hosted a roundtable discussion on drug enforcement and prevention Friday with Sara Carter, Director of the Office of National Drug Control Policy.

The meeting brought together law enforcement and recovery leaders from across West Virginia, including both of the state’s U.S. Attorneys. Capito said the conversation focused on strengthening collaboration among federal, state, and local partners to address the ongoing drug epidemic.

Carter praised West Virginia’s efforts through the Appalachia High Intensity Drug Trafficking Area program and local Drug‑Free Communities coalitions, saying they play a vital role in prevention and education.

Both leaders emphasized continued cooperation to support treatment, recovery, and community safety statewide.
