PRINCETON, W.Va. — WVU Medicine Princeton Community Hospital recently hosted U.S. Rep. Carol Miller for a visit centered on strengthening rural healthcare and advancing physician training opportunities in southern West Virginia.
Hospital leaders highlighted ongoing initiatives and discussed plans to launch a Family Medicine Residency Program, supported by a $750,000 Rural Residency Planning and Development Program grant from the Health Resources and Services Administration’s Federal Office of Rural Health Policy. The three‑year federal award, announced by Miller, will help PCH build a community‑focused training environment aimed at preparing physicians to serve rural and underserved populations.
Officials said the residency program is designed to address persistent workforce shortages across the region by attracting, training, and retaining physicians committed to improving long‑term health outcomes.
PCH leaders thanked Miller for her continued partnership and support of rural health initiatives that expand access to quality care throughout the Mountain State.
