Deadline Approaches for FEMA Assistance After July Storms in West Virginia

West Virginians impacted by the July 21–22 severe storms still have time to apply for federal disaster assistance, but the deadline is quickly approaching. Residents have until October 3 to register with FEMA for help with damages to homes and essential needs.

FEMA offers four ways to apply, giving survivors flexibility based on their situation. Individuals can receive one‑on‑one support at a Disaster Recovery Center, apply online, call the FEMA helpline, or use the FEMA mobile app.

According to the flyer, residents should have basic information ready when registering, including their address, condition of the damaged home, insurance details, Social Security number, contact phone number, and a mailing or email address.

“When you apply, you will receive a FEMA registration number. Save it! You will need the number whenever you contact FEMA.”

Applications can be submitted at DisasterAssistance.gov, by calling 800‑621‑3362, or by visiting fema.gov/drc to find the nearest Disaster Recovery Center. The FEMA app is also available for download on Android and iOS.

More information is available at fema.gov/disaster/4932.
