CHARLESTON, W.Va. — Charleston Police have released the names of the four young men killed in a late‑night crash Friday on I‑77 near the I‑77/I‑64 split.

Officers and Charleston Fire Department crews were called to the scene around 10:25 p.m. on August 21. According to a press release, responders found a vehicle with “significant damage” after it struck a concrete barrier, left the elevated interstate, and landed in a lot below along the 1100 block of Pennsylvania Avenue.

All four occupants were pronounced dead at the scene. Police identified the victims as 20‑year‑old James McDaniel, 20‑year‑old Colten Garcia, 21‑year‑old Kaden Ashby, and 21‑year‑old Kaiden Radford, all of Raleigh County.

Charleston Police extended condolences to the families and loved ones of those killed. The department’s Crash Investigation Unit continues to review evidence and will release additional information as it becomes available.

Beckley is coming together this week to honor the four Raleigh County residents killed in Friday’s crash at the I‑77/I‑64 split. A community vigil is set for Wednesday night at Linda K. Epling Stadium, starting at 7 p.m., with a balloon release planned for 7:45. Organizers say the event is meant to support the families and give neighbors a place to grieve together. Donations will be collected on‑site to help with funeral and recovery expenses.
