Governor Morrisey Appoints Barnhart to Senate, Ward to House of Delegates

CHARLESTON, W.Va. — Governor Patrick Morrisey has appointed Delegate Trenton Barnhart to fill the vacancy in West Virginia’s 3rd Senate District, following the retirement of longtime Senator Donna Boley. Morrisey praised Barnhart’s service in the House of Delegates, noting his work as Assistant Majority Whip and his roles on multiple committees, including Workforce Development, Banking and Insurance, Government Organization, Health and Human Resources, and Small Business and Economic Development.
The governor also appointed former Delegate Guy Ward to represent the 74th District in the House of Delegates. Ward previously served in the chamber, where he built a record focused on conservative policy priorities, including support for law enforcement, small businesses, and constitutional rights.
Both appointments take effect immediately.
