CHARLESTON, W.Va. – Governor Patrick Morrisey has appointed LeFlore Barbour Lucas to the West Virginia Natural Resources Commission, highlighting her deep roots in the state’s outdoor culture and her professional expertise in regional promotion.
“West Virginia’s natural resources are one of our greatest blessings and a cornerstone of our economy and way of life,” said Governor Morrisey. “LeFlore brings valuable experience, strong community ties, and a deep appreciation for our state’s outdoor traditions. I am confident she will help guide sound policies that balance conservation, access, and economic opportunity for generations to come.”
A Charleston native, Lucas is an avid hunter and conservationist. She fills an at-large seat on the commission, representing the interests of sportsmen and women statewide. Professionally, she serves as the Executive Director of Kanawha Valley Tourism, where she has spent over a decade specializing in marketing, public affairs, and tourism development.
The seven-member West Virginia Natural Resources Commission is responsible for establishing hunting and fishing seasons and bag limits, reviewing and advising on WVDR conservation programs, and ensuring that West Virginia remains a premier destination for safe and responsible outdoor recreation.
Barbour’s term begins immediately, and she is expected to participate in the upcoming quarterly meeting on April 30, 2026, at the WVDR Headquarters in Charleston.
