CHARLESTON, W.Va. – Governor Patrick Morrisey has declared a State of Preparedness in all 55 counties of West Virginia as snowfall and plunging temperatures are expected this week. The declaration will remain in effect until Thursday, December 18, 2025.
The order directs personnel and resources to be ready to mobilize in response to any emergency and grants administrative authority to the West Virginia Emergency Management Division (WVEMD) to ensure essential services are provided.
Governor Morrisey and WVEMD urge residents to stay alert to changing weather conditions, monitor local media, and follow instructions from emergency officials.
For the latest watches, warnings, and advisories, residents can check updates from the National Weather Service offices in Charleston, Baltimore/Washington (Eastern Panhandle), Blacksburg (Southeast WV), and Pittsburgh (Northern Panhandle).
