Late‑Night Fire Reported at Former Beckley Hospital; Cause Under Investigation

BECKLEY, WV — The Beckley Fire Department is investigating a late‑night fire that broke out Tuesday at the former Beckley Hospital building on South Oakwood Avenue.
Fire crews were dispatched around 10:30 p.m. on January 6 for a reported structure fire at 1007 South Oakwood Avenue. Units arrived within minutes and found flames coming from a room on the building’s second floor.
According to the department, the fire was contained to a single room, with only minor heat damage reported at the building’s entrance. No injuries or fatalities occurred.
The Beckley Fire Department’s Fire Prevention Division is leading the investigation into what caused the fire.
