PSC Joins National Effort to Recognize Truck Drivers During Appreciation Week

CHARLESTON, W.Va. — The Public Service Commission of West Virginia (PSC) joined transportation partners this week in recognizing the vital contributions of commercial truck drivers as part of National Truck Driver Appreciation Week, observed September 13–19.

PSC staff, transportation officers, and representatives from the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) greeted drivers at the I‑64 eastbound weigh station, handing out informational packets and personally thanking drivers for the long hours and dedication required to keep goods moving across West Virginia and the nation.

The packets included safety resources for commercial motor vehicle operators, information about the FMCSA’s Drug and Alcohol Clearinghouse, and tips for managing fatigue and staying alert behind the wheel.

PSC Chairman Charlotte R. Lane said truck drivers play an essential role in the state’s economy and daily life.

“Truck drivers make an important contribution to our communities and our economy,” Lane said. “We appreciate the long hours, dedication, and commitment they bring to their work, and we are proud to join our transportation partners in recognizing them and supporting their efforts to stay safe on the road.”

National Truck Driver Appreciation Week is an annual FMCSA initiative that highlights the importance of roadway safety and honors the men and women who transport goods across the country.
