CHARLESTON, W.Va. – The Public Service Commission of West Virginia has scheduled a public comment hearing for December 15 to address two rate cases filed by West Virginia‑American Water Company.
In May, the company requested approval for a $46 million increase in water rates and a $1.4 million increase in sewer rates. The proposal calls for the increases to be implemented in two phases: the first in March 2026 and the second in March 2027.
An evidentiary hearing on the cases began this week and is scheduled to continue through Thursday. The public comment hearing will begin at 5:30 p.m. at PSC headquarters, 201 Brooks Street in Charleston, and will also be available virtually.
Those wishing to participate must register with the Commission by 4 p.m. on December 12, either through the Microsoft Teams link provided by the PSC, by phone, or by email. Attendees who plan to speak in person must sign up prior to the start of the hearing.
Written comments may also be submitted by mail, hand delivery, or online through the PSC website. All comments should reference Case Nos. 25‑0426‑W‑42T and 25‑0428‑S‑42T.
