Raleigh County Parks Launches Master Plan to Shape Future of Recreation

Beckley, WV – The Raleigh County Parks and Recreation Authority (RCPRA) has officially launched a Parks and Recreation Master Plan (PRMP) to guide the future of its facilities, programs, and community impact across the county.
Designed to strengthen recreational opportunities for residents and visitors alike, the PRMP will assess current park conditions, explore programming enhancements, and identify ways to improve public health, environmental outcomes, and economic development through expanded access to parks and trails.
Charleston-based GAI Consultantsโ€™ Community Solutions Group has been tapped to assist with the planning process.
Countywide Focus
The plan will evaluate all eight recreational assets currently managed by RCPRA:

  • Lake Stephens (Surveyor)
  • Fitzpatrick Park (Beckley)
  • Raleigh County Youth 4-H Camp (Daniels)
  • Dry Hill Prosperity Community Park (Beckley)
  • Marsh Fork High School Memorial Park (Naoma)
  • Stoco Community Park (Coal City)
  • Glen Morgan Creekside Park (Beckley โ€“ planned)
  • Clear Fork Rail Trail (Whitesville)
    In addition to reviewing existing facilities, the PRMP will identify gaps in recreational access and explore how parks can better serve diverse communities throughout Raleigh County.
    Public Workshop Set for November 18
    To ensure the plan reflects local priorities, RCPRA is inviting the public to a community workshop:

    Residents will have the chance to share ideas, concerns, and suggestions to help shape the future of parks and recreation in the county.
    An online survey will also be available at www.raleighcountyparks.gov starting November 18 for those unable to attend in person. The survey will remain open through December 18, 2025.
