Beckley, WV — For everyone who is getting a little cabin fever after this week, The Salvation Army Red Shield Youth Center in Beckley will be hosting a Community Immersion event on Friday, January 30th from 5-7PM. This event serves as a kickoff to February and Black History Month.
“We hope that the community, especially families, come out and take part in this special event.” said RSYC Director Tracy Mason, “We have enlisted talented artist to show their artwork and perform, activities for kids, tastings of ethnic dishes and guest speakers. It also serves as an opportunity to share our facility and what we do here.”
The Red Shield Youth Center afterschool program serves as a 21st Century Community Learning Center in Raleigh County and this event is one of the many learning and enrichment opportunities that is provided to the children.
Anyone in the community is welcome to attend the center is located of 2871 Robert C. Byrd drive. Doors open at 5pm, guest speakers at 6pm.
