Secretary of State Kris Warner Delivers Keynote at Ceremony Honoring West Virginia Coal Miners


CHARLESTON, W.Va. – West Virginia Secretary of State Kris Warner served as keynote speaker today at the “Praise, Remembrance, and Blessing for the Miners of West Virginia” ceremony, held inside the State Capitol rotunda.
The event, hosted by the West Virginia Coal Association and Greenbrier Smokeless Mining Company of Rupert, honored the legacy, sacrifice, and contributions of coal miners across the Mountain State.
Warner’s remarks reflected on the central role coal mining has played in West Virginia’s history and economy, while paying tribute to miners and their families for their resilience and dedication. He emphasized the importance of remembrance and blessing for those who have lost their lives in the mines, as well as recognition of the industry’s ongoing impact on communities.
The ceremony brought together state leaders, industry representatives, and families to celebrate and honor the men and women who have powered West Virginia through generations.
