Security Guard Killed in Glade Springs Shooting; Suspect Charged with First‑Degree Murder

The Raleigh County Sheriff’s Office has released new details following a fatal shooting at the Glade Springs guard shack earlier this week.
According to Sheriff Frank Priddy, deputies responded to the resort’s entrance on February 16 after receiving a report of a shooting. When they arrived, they found a Glade Springs security guard suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. The victim was transported to a nearby hospital, where he later died from his injuries.
Following what investigators described as an extensive search and review of evidence, deputies identified 60‑year‑old Michael Lloyd Taylor of the Piney View area as the suspect. Taylor was taken into custody and is charged with First‑Degree Murder and Use of a Firearm During the Commission of a Felony.
The Sheriff’s Office says the investigation remains active.
Authorities remind the public that all suspects are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
