Small Fire at PikeView High School Quickly Contained; No Injuries Reported

PRINCETON, W.Va. — A small fire at PikeView High School Sunday afternoon was quickly extinguished, according to Mercer County Emergency Management Director Keith Gunnoe. The call came in around 4:40 p.m., prompting a response from four volunteer fire departments: Athens, East River, Bluestone Valley, and Matoaka.
Crews arrived to find smoke in a hallway and a classroom. The fire was put out and the building ventilated shortly afterward. Officials say no injuries or fatalities were reported, and the situation was brought under control without significant damage.
The cause of the fire has not yet been released.
