RALEIGH COUNTY, W.Va. — Two wanted men were taken into custody Friday after coordinated operations by the U.S. Marshals CUFFED Task Force and the Raleigh County Sheriff’s Office Special Response Team.
According to the Sheriff’s Office, Christopher Shrewsbury was located and arrested between 10:00 and 10:30 a.m. on Friday, January 30, 2026. Deputies and members of the U.S. Marshals CUFFED Task Force — the Cops United Felony Fugitive Enforcement Division — carried out the arrest after developing information on his whereabouts.
A second suspect, Darnell Mitchell, was arrested later the same day at approximately 1:45 p.m.
The CUFFED Task Force is made up of local law enforcement officers who work alongside the U.S. Marshals Service to track down and apprehend wanted fugitives across southern West Virginia.
