BECKLEY, W.Va. — United Way of Southern West Virginia is partnering with local organizations to collect supplies for families and communities recovering from recent flooding across the region.
Executive Director Trena Dacal said the flooding has damaged homes, businesses, and public spaces, leaving many residents in need of basic cleanup materials. “Southern West Virginia is at its best when neighbors step up to help neighbors,” Dacal said. “These are simple items, but they can make an immediate difference for someone working to get their home or property back in order.”
United Way is requesting donations of box fans, dehumidifiers, heavy‑duty trash bags, bleach, five‑gallon buckets, work gloves, paper towels, and shovels.

United Way will work with community partners to distribute supplies to areas where they are most needed. Dacal said each donation — whether a fan, a shovel, or a package of trash bags — represents “one neighbor telling another, ‘You are not facing this alone.’”
