BECKLEY, W.Va. — The United Way of Southern West Virginia is ushering in the holiday season with the return of its beloved Wonderland of Trees event, now in its 17th year. The festive fundraiser kicks off Friday, November 7 at Tamarack Marketplace, where dozens of creatively decorated trees will be on display to raise funds for local nonprofit services.
The opening celebration will feature a Business After Hours event hosted in partnership with the Beckley-Raleigh and Fayette County Chambers of Commerce. The public is invited to attend and enjoy the first look at this year’s tree designs, each sponsored and decorated by local businesses, organizations, and community members.
“We are so thankful for community partners like Tamarack Marketplace who are invested in their community,” said Trena Dacal, Executive Director of United Way of Southern West Virginia. “Not only does Tamarack provide an incredible destination, but the venue offers delicious dining options and holiday shopping that make the experience even more special.”
Visitors can vote for their favorite tree with a $1 donation per vote, write letters to Santa, meet Santa in person, and enjoy the seasonal atmosphere throughout the venue. All proceeds from the event support United Way’s mission to provide direct services and funding to partner agencies across Southern West Virginia.
The Wonderland of Trees will remain open to the public through Friday, November 21, when the event concludes with a live auction beginning at 6:00 p.m. The tree receiving the most votes will be honored with the annual “People’s Choice Award.”
