BECKLEY, W.Va. — Valley College and Appalachian Regional Healthcare have officially partnered to expand educational opportunities and strengthen the healthcare workforce across Southern West Virginia. The collaboration was celebrated during a partnership signing ceremony and open house at Valley College’s Beckley campus in New River Town Center.
College and healthcare leaders say the partnership is designed to support workforce development, create new educational pathways, and provide career advancement opportunities for current and future healthcare professionals throughout the region.
The agreement brings together a longstanding educational institution and one of the area’s largest healthcare providers in an effort to address growing workforce needs in the healthcare industry.
“Together, we are investing in education, careers, employees, and our community,” organizers said in announcing the partnership.
As part of the event, community members were invited to tour the Valley College campus, meet faculty and staff, and learn more about the school’s career-focused educational programs, including its Associate Degree of Nursing program. Attendees also had the opportunity to explore educational benefits and career opportunities that will be available through the new partnership with ARH.
Founded in 1987, Valley College has offered certificate and degree programs aimed at preparing students for careers in high-demand fields. School officials say the partnership with ARH will help create stronger connections between classroom training and workforce opportunities in the healthcare sector.
Healthcare workforce shortages continue to be a major challenge across rural West Virginia, particularly in nursing and allied health professions. Leaders from both organizations say the collaboration is intended to help build a pipeline of trained professionals who can live and work in the communities they serve.
The partnership also reflects broader efforts throughout the state to strengthen healthcare education, recruit new professionals, and improve access to care in rural communities.
Valley College and ARH officials say the initiative represents a long-term investment in students, employees, healthcare providers, and the communities they serve throughout Southern West Virginia.
