West Virginia voters turned out across the region Tuesday to decide key local, state, and judicial races. With nearly all precincts reporting, early results provide a clear picture of where many contests stand.

STATE SUPREME COURT — UNEXPIRED TERMS

Early statewide results show H. L. Kirkpatrick leading a five‑candidate field for one unexpired term on the West Virginia Supreme Court of Appeals. Kirkpatrick holds 31 percent, followed by Gerald Titus, Laura Faircloth, Todd Kirby, and Martin Sheehan.

In the second Supreme Court contest, early totals show Bill Flanigan ahead of incumbent Tom Ewing, with Flanigan receiving 58 percent of the vote as the count nears completion.

U.S. SENATE PRIMARIES

In the Republican Primary, early results show incumbent Shelley Moore Capito with a commanding lead, holding 66 percent of the vote. Tom Willis, Bryan McKinney, David Purkey, and Alexander Gaaserud follow.

On the Democratic side, early totals show Rachel Anderson leading with 33 percent, ahead of Jeffrey Kessler, Zachary Shrewsbury, Thornton Cooper, and Rio Phillips.

U.S. HOUSE — DISTRICT 1

Early results in the Republican Primary show incumbent Carol Miller leading with 72 percent, ahead of challenger Larry Jackson.

For Democrats, Vince George leads with 53 percent, ahead of Britta Aguirre.

LOCAL COUNTY RESULTS

FAYETTE COUNTY

  • County Commission (GOP): Barry Crist leads with 45%.
  • Assessor (GOP): Tara Tyree leads with 61%.
  • Board of Education: All seats uncontested.
  • Circuit Court District 13: Sam Fox leads with 37%, followed by Larry Harrah.

GREENBRIER COUNTY

  • Commissioner Lowell Rose uncontested.
  • Unexpired Commission Term: Matt Ford leads with 74%.
  • Magistrate and Board of Education seats uncontested.

MCDOWELL COUNTY

  • Commissioner Cecil Dale Patterson uncontested.
  • BOE Sandy River District: Linda Lester White leads with 40%.
  • North Elkins BOE seats uncontested.

MERCER COUNTY

  • Prosecuting Attorney (Unexpired): David Pfeifer leads with 52%.
  • BOE District 2: Keith Gunnoe leads with 30.9% in a crowded field.
  • BOE District 3: Deborah Akers leads with 57%.
  • Circuit Judge: Brian Cochran leads with 56%.
  • Several offices uncontested.

MONROE COUNTY

  • Commissioner Melvin Young, Magistrate Amy Hunt, and all BOE candidates uncontested.
  • Conservation Supervisor: Adam Hill leads with 66%.

NICHOLAS COUNTY

  • Commission (DEM): Sarah Meadows Brown leads with 82%.
  • Commissioner Craig Chapman uncontested on GOP side.
  • BOE Cherry District: Libby Coffman leads with 56.9%.
  • BOE Gauley District: Anita Brown Groves leads with 39.9%.

RALEIGH COUNTY

  • Commissioner Greg Duckworth, Prosecutor Christopher Lefler, and BOE candidate Charlotte Hutchens uncontested.
  • BOE District III: Ron Cantley leads with 37.8%.
  • Conservation Supervisor: Mark Harris leads with 55.6%.

SUMMERS COUNTY

  • Commission (GOP): Mike Gore leads with 73%.
  • Magistrate and BOE seats uncontested.
  • School Levy: Currently failing, with 52% voting NO.

WYOMING COUNTY

  • Commissioner Jason Mullins and Prosecutor Derek Laxton uncontested.
  • BOE Division 2: April Hedinger leads with 64%.
  • Mayor of Mullens: Alan “Mater” Mills leads with 55%.
  • Pineville Levy: Passing with 72% YES.
