Capito Votes to Pass Second Minibus Appropriations Package

WASHINGTON, D.C. — U.S. Senator Shelley Moore Capito voted to approve a second minibus appropriations package, a bundle of three bipartisan federal funding bills covering Commerce–Justice–Science, Interior and Environment, and Energy and Water Development. Minibus packages allow Congress to pass several full‑year appropriations bills at once, rather than combining all federal spending into a single omnibus bill.
The legislation funds a wide range of national programs, including law enforcement, environmental protection, scientific research, and energy development. For West Virginia, these bills influence support for local police departments, federal court operations, mine‑land reclamation, water‑infrastructure upgrades, and energy‑sector initiatives tied to the state’s economy.
Senator Capito, a senior member of the Senate Appropriations Committee, said the package represents progress toward funding the government through “regular order,” noting it comes in $2 billion below current spending levels. She said the bills aim to reduce regulatory burdens, strengthen public safety, and support a tech‑driven economy. Capito added that she remains committed to a budgeting process that provides stability and certainty for communities in West Virginia and across the country.
