FRC to Host Annual Poker Run Fundraiser for Survivors of Domestic Violence

LEWISBURG, W.Va. — The Family Refuge Center will hold its fifth annual Poker Run Fundraiser on Saturday, July 25, inviting motorcycle riders and car enthusiasts to support survivors of domestic violence across the region.

Participants will begin the ride at the organization’s main office on Coleman Drive in Lewisburg before traveling the scenic backroads of Monroe County, continuing through historic Hinton, and looping back to the starting point. Organizers say the event blends mountain views, community connection and a shared commitment to helping families in crisis.

Registration opens at 9 a.m., with kickstands up at 11. The entry fee is $25 per rider, $10 for a second rider and $10 per extra hand. Riders will stop at multiple locations along the route to collect playing cards and build their best poker hand. Prizes will be awarded for both the highest and lowest hands, and the first 50 participants will receive an event T‑shirt.

“This event brings together our community in a unique, energetic way,” said Stephanie Moore of the Family Refuge Center. “Every mile ridden and every hand played helps us provide life‑saving services to those experiencing domestic violence.”

The Family Refuge Center provides advocacy, emergency shelter, counseling and support services for individuals and families affected by domestic violence in Greenbrier, Monroe and Pocahontas counties.
