Governor Morrisey Highlights Tax Relief, Competitive Growth Agenda in Wheeling

WHEELING, W.Va. — Governor Patrick Morrisey today highlighted West Virginia’s ongoing tax relief efforts and broader push to strengthen the state’s competitive position during remarks in Wheeling.

“This year, we’re returning $230 million to the hardworking people of West Virginia,” Governor Morrisey said. “If we’re going to be competitive in the Backyard Brawl with the states around us, we have to lower taxes and create an environment where people and business can grow and succeed.”

The tax relief package includes an across-the-board income tax reduction and alignment of West Virginia’s tax code with key provisions of the Trump tax cuts. The changes are aimed at improving affordability, strengthening the state’s economic foundation, and ensuring West Virginia can compete with neighboring states for jobs and investment.

West Virginia has seen record-breaking investment announcements totaling more than $12.75 billion over the past six months, along with nearly 12,000 projected jobs, reflecting growing confidence in the state’s economic direction.

“We’re building a stronger foundation for growth in West Virginia,” Governor Morrisey said. “We’re creating the conditions for long-term success by making it easier to invest, easier to hire, and easier to do business in this state.”
