Governor Morrisey Proposes State Employee Pay Raises in 2027 Budget

CHARLESTON, W.Va. — Governor Patrick Morrisey announced that his proposed Fiscal Year 2027 budget will include pay raises for state employees, citing West Virginia’s improved financial outlook under his administration’s balanced‑budget approach.
The raises would apply to employees funded through the general revenue budget, including teachers, State Police, corrections officers, and other public servants. Morrisey said the plan is designed to address critical vacancies in Corrections, Child Protective Services, and Education, while making West Virginia more competitive with neighboring states.
Morrisey emphasized that public employees are essential to the state’s success and deserve to share in its fiscal progress. The proposal is part of his broader economic agenda, which has secured $5.5 billion in development investments, created 5,500 jobs, and advanced initiatives such as licensing reciprocity, streamlined permitting, and infrastructure support.
