PRINCETON, W.Va. — Karen Bowling, MSN, RN, President and Chief Executive Officer of WVU Medicine Princeton Community Hospital, has been elected to a three‑year term as West Virginia’s delegate to the American Hospital Association’s Regional Policy Board.
The appointment, announced by the West Virginia Hospital Association, places Bowling among healthcare leaders who review emerging policy issues and advise the AHA board of trustees on matters shaping national health strategy. The nine regional boards meet three times each year to ensure local and regional perspectives are represented in federal policymaking.
WVHA President and CEO Jim Kaufman praised Bowling’s commitment to rural healthcare and her extensive leadership experience, calling her “an ideal representative for the state’s hospitals.”
In addition to leading Princeton Community Hospital, Bowling serves as executive vice president of governmental affairs for the WVU Health System. In those roles she has focused on expanding access to care, strengthening rural health services, and improving quality across the state.
Her new position with the AHA will allow her to connect West Virginia’s priorities to national policy discussions. Bowling begins her three‑year term this year.
