Public Voting Opens for West Virginia’s First Statewide “I Voted!” Sticker Contest

CHARLESTON, W.Va. — The West Virginia Secretary of State’s Office has opened public voting for the state’s first‑ever statewide “I Voted!” sticker contest. The competition invited eighth‑grade students from public, private, and homeschool settings to design artwork for the stickers given to voters during early voting and on Election Day.
More than 1,100 students from 42 counties submitted designs to their County Clerks. Each county selected a first‑place winner, and those entries advanced to a regional round conducted by the Secretary of State’s Office. Four regional winners have now been chosen, and the public is invited to help select the statewide winner.
Voting is open for ten days, running from February 17 through 4:30 p.m. on February 27. Each person may cast one vote per email address. The winning design will be announced March 11 during National Civic Learning Week at the State Capitol.
Secretary of State Kris Warner said the contest is designed to promote civic engagement among young people while giving voters a voice in choosing the artwork that will appear on stickers statewide.
