Secretary Warner calls on West Virginians to support flood cleanup and recovery efforts

CHARLESTON, W.Va. — West Virginia Secretary of State Kris Warner is urging business owners across central West Virginia to support cleanup and recovery efforts following catastrophic flooding in Lewis and Upshur counties.

In a message distributed to businesses in 12 counties, Warner said the flooding caused widespread damage to homes, businesses, and critical infrastructure. He noted that many families have been displaced and that local businesses face significant losses as they work to rebuild.

Warner said there is an immediate need for qualified contractors, skilled tradespeople, equipment, supplies, and volunteers to assist with cleanup and reconstruction. He encouraged businesses able to donate services, resources, or financial support to coordinate with local emergency management agencies.

Residents and organizations wishing to help can contact the Lewis‑Gilmer E‑911 Center at 304‑269‑8235 or the Upshur County Department of Homeland Security and Emergency Management at 304‑472‑4983.

Upshur County officials say diapers, feminine hygiene products, box fans, and extension cords are in high demand and may be donated to West Virginia Wesleyan College, 151 Cebe Ross Drive, Buckhannon.

Warner said the support of West Virginians will be essential as affected communities work to recover and rebuild.
