OAK HILL, W.Va. — West Virginia House Speaker Roger Hanshaw is calling for Delegate David Elliott Pritt, R‑Fayette, to resign following a federal charge of enticement of a minor.
Hanshaw said Pritt’s alleged actions are “shocking, disgusting and disappointing in every way,” adding that resignation would spare his family and district further embarrassment.
According to a federal complaint unsealed Wednesday, Pritt, a 36‑year‑old teacher at Oak Hill High School, is accused of engaging in inappropriate communication and conduct with a minor. The charge carries a potential sentence of 10 years to life in prison.
Pritt has represented District 50 in the West Virginia House of Delegates since 2022.
Officials emphasize that the allegations remain under investigation and that Pritt is presumed innocent until proven guilty.
