Princeton Community Hospital Named ‘High Performing’ in Knee Replacement by U.S. News & World Report

Princeton, W.Va. — WVU Medicine Princeton Community Hospital (PCH) has been recognized as High Performing in Knee Replacement in the 2026–2027 U.S. News & World Report Best Hospitals rankings — the highest distinction available in the publication’s Procedures & Conditions ratings.

Fewer than half of the nearly 4,500 hospitals evaluated earned a High Performing designation in any category, placing PCH among the nation’s strongest performers in orthopedic care.

Hospital leaders say the recognition reflects the strength of the PCH Orthopedic Center, where surgeons, specialized nurses, rehabilitation therapists, and support teams work together to guide patients from pre‑operative education through recovery. The center is a regional leader in robotic‑assisted joint replacement, using Mako SmartRobotics™ technology to deliver highly personalized hip and knee procedures.

“Our Orthopedic Center has built a culture of excellence and innovation that puts patient success at the center of everything we do,” said Karen Bowling, PCH President and CEO. “This recognition reflects the expertise, teamwork, and compassion our orthopedic team brings to every patient, every day.”

U.S. News evaluates hospitals using more than 800 million patient records, analyzing risk‑adjusted mortality, preventable complications, and patient experience across 14 adult specialties and 23 procedures and conditions.

PCH continues to serve as a leading health care provider in the two Virginias, operating a 203‑bed acute care hospital, a 64‑bed psychiatric hospital, an emergency department and outpatient facility in Bluefield, and a network of primary care, specialty clinics, and rural imaging centers across a 10‑county region.
