BUFFALO, W.Va. — Toyota Motor Manufacturing West Virginia is moving forward with a new production line at its Buffalo plant, part of a broader investment aimed at expanding the company’s powertrain capabilities and strengthening its workforce pipeline. The company also announced a new donation to Marshall University, supporting engineering and advanced manufacturing programs connected to the expansion.
While full hiring numbers and timelines are expected next week, Toyota officials say the new line will support future engine and hybrid‑component production. The Buffalo facility, already one of the state’s largest industrial employers, has been central to Toyota’s North American manufacturing strategy for more than two decades.
The company’s donation to Marshall University will help fund training initiatives designed to prepare students for high‑skill manufacturing careers. State officials say the partnership will strengthen the region’s workforce pipeline and support long‑term economic growth.
Local leaders expect the expansion to create new job opportunities and reinforce Toyota’s role as a major economic driver in Putnam County and the surrounding region.
