CHARLESTON, W.Va. — West Virginia collected $671 million in General Revenue Fund taxes in April, exceeding the monthly estimate by more than $70 million, state officials said Friday. The month’s collections were also up 4.2% from last April.
For the fiscal year to date, revenue has reached $4.742 billion — about $269 million above estimates, an increase of 6%. Governor Patrick Morrisey said the results reflect what he called a disciplined approach to economic growth and budgeting.
Personal Income Tax collections totaled $294 million for the month, coming in $27 million above estimate. Consumer Sales Tax collections reached $128 million, slightly below projections but still more than $110 million ahead of last year’s pace.
Severance Tax revenue topped $85 million in April, beating estimates by $50 million. Corporation Net Income Tax collections totaled $80 million, while Tobacco Products Tax revenue reached $12.6 million.
Interest income for the year stands at $120 million, $29 million above estimate.
