WV AG REPORTS 141 SCAM COMPLAINTS IN MAY

CHARLESTON, W.Va. — The West Virginia Attorney General’s Office says it received 141 scam complaints in May, with Medicare scams once again topping the list. Other major scams included computer‑phishing attempts, robocalls, fake traffic‑violation texts, and sweepstakes or prize schemes. Officials warn scammers continue to spoof phone numbers and pressure victims into quick decisions. Residents are urged to verify suspicious calls, avoid gift‑card payments, and never send money to strangers.
