Bluefield, WV — The Behavioral Health Center operated by WVU Medicine Princeton Community Hospital has been named Signet Health’s 2025 Inpatient Program of the Year, a national award recognizing exceptional performance in clinical quality, patient care, and operational excellence.
Hospital President and CEO Karen Bowling said the honor reflects the dedication of the entire Behavioral Health Center team, noting their commitment to providing high‑quality care for patients across southern West Virginia. Executive Director John Nekic added that the recognition is especially meaningful because it was earned while staff were advocating for vulnerable patients who often cannot advocate for themselves.
Signet Health highlighted the center’s achievements in treatment‑team effectiveness, patient and employee engagement, oversight of patient care, and improvements in operational efficiency. Officials say these accomplishments demonstrate the program’s strong focus on clinical effectiveness, financial stewardship, and patient‑centered care.
The Behavioral Health Center provides individualized treatment plans supported by board‑certified psychiatrists, nurses, social workers, mental health technicians, and other behavioral health professionals. The facility offers a full continuum of inpatient and outpatient services, including a 34‑bed adult unit, a 30‑bed geriatric unit, traditional counseling and medication‑management services, and intensive programs designed to support adults transitioning from or seeking to avoid hospitalization.
